The measurements will in no case be used for diagnostic or individual purposes it will be measured the average effect of the training on the experimental sample compared to the control sample. CEREBRUM DISPERSIO MUSIC SERIESThe evaluation of the effects of reading aloud will be carried out on a sample (see section on sampling) through a series of tests and text comprehension tests (see section on instruments). In particular, as far as the nurseries are concerned, the project shall include texts without words and eventually the "quadrotti" (classical texts such as "Pimpa", "Giulio Coniglio") and then the illustrated books. The books, diversified according to age groups, shall be negotiated with the educators/teachers and/or directly proposed by them in the framework of the educational/didactic activity. The reading will be carried out by the same educators/teachers of children. The aim of the testing is to study the effects of including the reading aloud as an everyday practice within the classes. The Committee’s opinion is requested for the experimentation that will involve children and youngsters aged 1 to 16 years (until the first two years of the upper secondary schools). At the end of the first year, the results will be returned to the educational and school services in the area as well as to the families (results obtained thanks to the incoming and outgoing tests). In short, educators/teachers will benefit from specific training and support once trained, they will carry out daily reading aloud training for children/youngsters of their own classes, during the timeframe of the project (about 50 days). The targets are: children enrolled in the nurseries in Tuscany and students in Empoli and Valdera area (from primary school to upper secondary school). The macro-actions are: training of operators (educators, teachers), data collection and monitoring of reading in classroom. The project consists of three macro-actions and two target groups. Therefore, the “Leggere: Forte!” project focuses on nurseries and, in two areas, in all education levels, in order to both promote reading aloud as an educational-didactic practice and verify its effects. The logic of the proposal was to measure the effects of the reading aloud as a didactic practice, in order to spread the results and gradually transform the experimentation into concrete and daily educational practice. The Region of Tuscany formally asked the FISSUF Department to elaborate a project proposal for the first year of testing. Reading aloud in classroom is a teaching practice that strengthen democracy and citizenship because it facilitates the access to education. This means, at the same time, affecting the cultural, educational, relational, identity and employment future of the new generations and effects would also impact on previous generations. The main objective of the project is to make reading aloud a usual and daily practice throughout the Tuscan education system, regardless of the age of the beneficiaries. Given the results of experiments conducted with different age groups in order to study the influence of reading aloud on the educational success, this practice is deemed to be a decisive element, on a daily and systematic basis, for acquiring knowledge and practical citizenship skills. This is a multi-annual project that should be correctly defined as an educational "policy" rather than a project: infact, it aims to make the “reading aloud” a daily practice in the whole Tuscan education and training system, within the next few years. “Reading: so Cool!” (in Italian “Leggere: Forte!) is a project promoted by the Region of Tuscany in collaboration with the University of Perugia (Department of Philosophy, Social and Human Sciences and Education), the Cepell (“Centro per il libro e la lettura” - “Centre for Book and Reading” of the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture), the Tuscan Regional Office for Education and Indire (National Institute of Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research).
